Hey Queens! The blog post I'm sharing with you I wrote about six months ago! I wrote it as a standard 'Devotion' so if it's not in the context of my usual writing style that is because I did not plan to post it on my blog but share it with another publication.
Anyway, here it is.
I hope it touches you. This is a portion of my personal testimony btw (I'll do a video on that)
"Is Pornography that Bad?
YESSS!!!!
We live in generation that unfortunately brushes pornography off as not being a sin. In fact pornography is a sin, perversion and opens the door for other demons to come into your life. Pornography is one of the leading addictions in this country for both men and women. Countless of hours are spent watching pornography polluting your mind and spirit.
Recent studies show that 40 million US adults visit pornography websites regularly.
67% of 18-26 year-old men believe viewing pornography is acceptable.
49% of 18-26 year-old women believe viewing pornography is acceptable.
87% of young men report using pornography is acceptable.
31% of young women report using pornography is acceptable
You may tell yourself
“Oh I watch porn because it’s better than having sex”
“I watch porn so I will not have sex and stay celibate”
“Oh, I’m watching porn so I can know what do”
All of things you are telling yourself are lies from the enemy! HE wants you to think you need to watch porn.
Things porn can lead to:
Fornication – Watching the act of sex can lead to temptation. Making you want to have sex.
Adultery- viewing porn in a marriage can lead to sex outside of the marriage. It can cause you to become lustful and have desires for things/person outside of your marriage.
Masturbation- being alone watching pornography can open the door to you wanting to “please” yourself. (Still a sin)
Homosexuality – Pornography is not just heterosexual. They mix both homosexual activities and heterosexual viewing that can open up the door for your mind to wonder and have a desire for the opposite sex.
Confusion – Your mind being cluttered with so much toxic you won’t be able to hear properly from the Lord and you will begin to think that what you’re doing is right/okay.
Addictions- you will become addicted to pornography. Just like any sin you will enjoy what you’re doing. Until you realize that what you’re doing is causing more destruction in your life.
Lets take a look at
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 NLT “Run from sexual sin! NO other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for you God bought you with a high price so you must honor God with your body.”
In this scripture Paul is warning us about the importance of staying away from sexual sin. He is letting us know how sexual sin is a sin against our body. He then reminds us that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. How can the Holy Spirit lead us and guide us in the direction of his path if we are not able to hear him clearly? The scripture ends with how God bought us with a high price. Because he bought us at a high price we must honor him with our body.
How to be set free from Pornography addiction:
CONFESS YOUR SINS - Pornography is one of those silent sins. It’s not a sin that is as visible as other things. It is usually something you do in your home while no one is watching, but God is watching. In order to be set free from being addicted to porn you have to say “Lord I confess my sin of Pornography and I call it out and cast it down in the name of Jesus. I will no longer be held captive to this addiction. I repent and I will be set free.” 1 John 1:9
DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE- You are not alone in what you are going through. Statistics show that 50% of Christian men and 20% of Christian women watch porn regularly. The enemy likes us to be held captivate of our sins. True freedom is being able to talk about what you USED to do or whom you USED to be you are not ashamed because you know God has truly delivered you. Talking to someone about your addiction opens the door for your brothers and sisters and Christ to pray for you and wash you with the word. Do not suffer in silence someone has been through what you are going through and looking to pray for you. James 5:16
GUARD YOUR HEART- The final and most important thing is you have to guard your heart of everything. You have to be careful of what you watch on TV, conversations you have with people, things you see on social media, music you listen to and much more! Soak yourself in the word to build your spirit up. Shower yourself with worship music so when you are tempted (because you will be) you won’t fall! If you at night there is a lot of porn on social media delete your apps. If you know that you can’t watch TV at nighttime due to porn being on get rid of your cable! You have to do everything in your power to flee from sexual sin. Matthew 5:30
I get it, it’s hard not to watch it but I PROMISE it is worth it. I was exposed to pornography at an early age and was addicted to it. I loved watching porn and for years I saw nothing wrong with it. The moment I realized that God had something better is the moment it became a challenge to stop watching. BUT TRUST me,
not watching porn is one of the best things I could of done. Guard your eyes and your heart.. It’s not just watching sex, the things that are being planted in your heart and mind is what cause the problem. If the enemy can make you think something “is not that bad” he will. Don’t let him! Let that porn go. It aint even worth it.
